Three fire crews called to building blaze in Southport

A man’s been hospitalised after a fire broke out in the industrial area in Southport overnight.

The flames started in a business on Bailey Crescent broke out just before 7.00pm, calling three fire crews to the scene.

They had the 30 x 30 metre blaze under control within an hour, before handing it back to the occupier.


Paramedics were called to the scene as well, where they treated one man in his 50s for smoke inhalation.

He was taken to the Gold Coast University Hospital for further treatment, where he’s believed to be in a stable condition.

QFES confirmed that fire investigators won’t be heading back to the scene, though cannot confirm exactly what sparked the blaze.
