Three injured after bus ploughs into their home, police say driver was drunk
UPDATE 4:30 PM | THE driver of a bus which left a major eight-lane road in Sydney and ploughed through a home before coming to rest inside the house next door was allegedly drunk.
Three people were injured when the out-of-control bus smashed through their homes on Epping Road at North Ryde just before midday on Saturday.
The driver of the bus was taken to Sydney’s Royal North Shore Hospital where police allege he returned a blood alcohol reading of 0.200 – four times the legal limit.
UPDATE 1:40 PM | THREE people have been injured after an out-of-control bus smashed through their homes after leaving a major eight-lane road in Sydney’s northwest.
The bus was travelling west along Epping Road at North Ryde when it lost control just before midday.
Police said the bus left the road, mounted the kerb and travelled through the front yard of one home before smashing through a second and coming to rest inside a third.
Two women in one of the homes suffered minor injuries and were taken to Sydney’s Royal North Shore Hospital.
A man who was in one of the other houses also suffered minor injuries but did not require transport.
Photos and video from the scene uploaded to social media show significant damage to both homes.

Police a short time ago confirmed no passengers were on the bus at the time.
Its driver, however, has been taken to the Royal North Shore for observation and mandatory drug and alcohol tests.
Traffic is slow moving through the area while emergency services respond to the scene.
Anyone who witnessed the accident or may have dashcam footage of the bus before and during the crash is urged to come forward and call Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000.
