Three men charged after morning robbery in Southport

THREE men have been charged with robbery and fraud after they allegedly stole a woman’s wallet in Southport and used her credit card on Monday morning.

Police say a 51-year-old woman was waiting to cross the road at the intersection of Scarborough and Nind streets at around 8am when she was targeted.

“A man, part of a group of three nearby, allegedly barged into her and stole her wallet from under her arm before rejoining the other two men who had entered a vehicle and the trio fled the scene,” police said in a statement.

Police said the woman’s credit card was then used at a supermarket at Labrador.

The men were unarmed and thankfully, the woman was not physically injured.

A 44-year-old man from Labrador, a 31-year-old man from Southport and a 52-year-old man from Beerwah have each been charged with robbery and fraud.

All three are scheduled to appear in the Southport Magistrates Court on Tuesday.
