Three people killed in horror skydiving accident
THREE people have been killed after plunging out of the sky in a horror skydiving accident in North Queensland.
The tragedy unfolded at Mission Beach, south of Cairns, shortly after 3pm on Friday.
Two men aged in their 30s and a woman in her 50s plummeted to the ground after they collided in midair and their parachutes failed to open properly.
The trio suffered life-threatening injuries and sadly were all pronounced deceased by paramedics at the scene.
“Initial investigations indicate that a solo skydiver may have collided with tandem skydivers in mid-air with their parachutes failing to deploy correctly,” police said in a statement.
“Two men in their 30s and a woman in her 50s were located deceased at the scene.”
It’s understood one victim landed in the backyard of a house, while two others were found entangled in a tree.
