Titans 6th on NRL ladder after defeating the Sea-Eagles

The Gold Coast Titans are now in sixth spot on the NRL ladder after taking down Manly 32-20 on Sunday.

Coach Garth Brennan praised the side during a media conference following the round 5 win, saying they worked really hard.

“I thought they were the better team. The boys were determined to put in a good performance today and I am really proud of their efforts,” he said.

“They are a really close knit unit and they are fighting hard.”

Brennan said he was impressed with forward Bryce Cartwright, who also played at centre in the second half due to an injury to Dale Copley.

“I thought he defended really well with that one-on-one tackle on [Daly] Cherry-Evans in the first half and then with that miss [on Kelly], where he ran back hard and saved the day for the team,” he said.

“He is a work in progress but I am really happy and I think he took a real step forward today.”

Captain Ryan James said lock Jai Arrow had another blockbuster game.

“He was the best on field and probably has been the best on field for the first five rounds,” he said.

“He has come from the Broncos where he was on the bench to start for us and play long minutes and is up there with some of the better locks in the comp at the moment.”
