Titans beat Warriors in NRL trial match

FIVE Titans recruits scored on debut for their new club during an impressive 36-18 victory over the Warriors during yesterday’s NRL trial match n New Zealand.

The Gold Coast boys were down 18-4 early in the match, before turning things around and keeping the home side scoreless for the final 60 minutes of play.

Paul Carter, Brad Tighe, Maurice Blair and Christian Hazard all crossed the white line, while Kalifa Faifai Loa managed a try and four out of six conversion attempts.


Former Rabbitohs playmaker Hazard was handed an opportunity to start the match after the withdrawal of five-eighth Aidan Sezer as a precautionary measure due to hamstring tightness.

The Titans also lost winger Steve Michaels in the build-up to the match due to hamstring tightness.

While concern surrounds prop Ryan James who suffered a shoulder injury in the opening quarter and will undergo scans in the coming days to ascertain the seriousness of the injury.

The squad will remain across the Tasman this week ahead of the upcoming inaugural Auckland Nines.
