Titans hold Sharks to thrilling 18-all draw

The Gold Coast Titans have held on to seventh place on the NRL ladder, holding the Sharks to a gripping 18-all draw in front of a roaring home crowd at Robina.

The win broke Cronulla’s 15-game winning streak.

The Titans web site hailed the match as the “best possible examination” of the team’s title credentials, saying it had sent “a mighty shockwave through the competition”.

The Gold Coast posted three consecutive tries in 20 minutes to the delight of the crowd of almost 15,000, but Andrew Fifita levelled the score seven minutes before full time to set up a gripping conclusion to the game.

Despite heroic efforts from Greg Bird and a fiery performance in defence by Zeb Taia the scoreline remained locked after extra time.
