Titans star found not guilty of attacking security guard at Gold Coast hotel

GOLD Coast Titans player Daniel Sarginson has walked free from court after being found not guilty of assaulting a security guard outside a Burleigh Heads hotel.

The 24-year-old pleaded not guilty to one count of assault occasioning bodily harm in a one-day trial at Southport Magistrates Court on Wednesday.

Security guard Kurt Smith told the court he was hit in the head by Sarginson after he and two of his friends were refused entry to the venue during the NRL season in June.

But Sarginson denied the allegations, arguing that he had actually tried to remove himself from the situation and take teammate Kevin Proctor with him.

Sarginson further claimed that his friend had been violently ejected from the hotel and said he was spat on while being pinned to the ground by security.

The England International also denied the security guard’s claim that he bragged he could so what he liked because he was on half-a-million-dollars a year.
