THE Titans have opened their 2014 NRL season with a win over the Sharks.
The Gold Coast took advantage of a depleted Cronulla side, which was without injured playmaker Todd Carney as well as Jeff Robson, Beau Ryan and Chris Heighington. Skipper Paul Gallen came off the field injured after 31 minutes.
The Titans led 10-6 at half-time in front of a crowd of 9,321 at Shark Park and continued to stay in control in the second half to win 18-12.

Albert Kelly was named Man of the Match after claiming one try and setting up a four-pointer for William Zillman.
Co-Captain Greg Bird also found the try line, while Aiden Sezer had his eye in, converting the three ties.
It was also a special celebration for Luke Douglas, who was back at his old home ground to play a record breaking 195th consecutive NRL game.
