A toddler is in a critical condition after being hit by a motorbike on the NSW North Coast.

The shocking accident happened just after 5.45pm on Wednesday.

Police said the 18-month-old boy was playing with his siblings in the front yard of a house on Pullen Street in Woolgoolga when he ran onto the roadway.

“The child was hit by a motorcycle with the rider and a passerby stopping to render assistance,” NSW police said in a statement.

The toddler was rushed to Coffs Harbour Hospital before being airlifted to the Sydney Children’s Hospital where he remains in a critical but stable condition.

The rider was taken to hospital for mandatory blood and urine tests.
