Toddler critical after being run over by van in driveway of NSW home

A THREE-year-old boy has been rushed to hospital in a critical condition after being run over by a van in the driveway of a house in Sydney.

The awful accident happened in a quiet culdesac at Ryde, in the city’s northwest, late on Saturday afternoon.

A CareFlight doctor and critical care paramedic helped ambulance officers treat the child at the scene before he was rushed to the Children’s Hospital at Westmead.

The child’s injuries are considered to be so severe, the ambulance was given a police escort to the hospital.

A man believed to be related to the child needed to be treated for shock at the scene.

He too was taken to hospital for further treatment.
