Toddler critically injured after being run over on busy main road

A ONE-year-old boy is fighting to stay alive in hospital after being run over by a car north of Brisbane.

Police said the child was struck on Oakey Flat Road at Narangba just after 10am on Thursday.

Queensland Ambulance said the toddler suffered significant head, shoulder, leg and foot injuries.

He was rushed to Brisbane’s Lady Cilento Children’s Hospital where he remains in a critical condition.

Oakey Flat Road is a busy two-lane 60km/h road stretching 12km from Narangba to Morayfield.

The Forensic Crash Unit is now investigating the circumstances surrounding the tragedy.

Police are pleading with witnesses or motorists with relevant dash-cam footage to come forward.
