Tomic returns to ATP winners’ list at Queen’s

BERNARD Tomic has claimed his first win on the ATP circuit since having hip surgery earlier this year.

The Gold Coast tennis ace has struggled to return to form since going under the knife in February, just weeks after pulling out of his first round Australian Open match against Rafael Nadal.

In a major boost to his grass court campaign ahead of Wimbledon, Tomic took down American Tim Smyczek 6-4 3-6 7-5 at Queen’s Club in London this morning.

He is joined in the second round by fellow Australians James Duckworth and Lleyton Hewitt, who both had wins.
