FINAL preparations are underway for tonight’s 100th State of Origin game and this year’s series opener in Brisbane.
It’s expected to be a sellout at Suncorp Stadium, with Queensland going in as favourites after winning the past eight series in a row.
But The Blues are clinging to the significance of today’s date after having won every game (two) played on May 28.

A statue of record-winning Queensland coach Mal Meninga was unveiled outside Suncorp this morning, ahead of tonight’s showdown.
The bronzed statue, sculptured by Liam Hardy from Coomera, stands alongside tributes to Wally Lewis, Arthur Beetson and Darren Lockyer.
