Top 5 celeb-worthy bars on the Gold Coast

With The Logies just around the corner, Hollywood heavyweights like Chris Hemsworth living in our backyard, and movie stars of Mel Gibson’s caliber scouting our city for film locations, the Gold Coast is So Hot Right Now.

We’re expecting our local celebrity count to jump up dramatically in a couple of weeks time, as Australia’s entertainment industry elite touch down for their “night of nights”.

With plenty of glamorous haunts for the rich and famous to settle into during their time on the Coast, the opportunities for A-lister selfies are endless. So where are you most likely to find celebrities this winter?

1. Nineteen at The Star, Broadbeach
Dubbed The Star’s “spectacular signature venue”, Nineteen offers the perfect balance of chic decor, sensational views and glam water-fringed lounges and day beds, which are just begging to be showcased on the Gram (in the right filter, of course). Matt Damon was spotted enjoying a drink or two with his bestie Chris Hemsworth at Nineteen just last week, and with The Star hosting the Logies in a couple of week’s time, we expect this bar to be heaving with A-list patrons.

2. Aloha Bar and Dining, Broadbeach
A hidden tropical paradise tucked away in a back alley in Broadbeach, Aloha Bar and Dining is only visible from the outside by a pineapple lantern. This secretive entry is just how the rich and famous like it, allowing them to sneak in and out unnoticed. Movie stars Tom Hiddleston and Mark Ruffalo were in the crowd when Aloha hosted the cast and crew of Thor: Ragnarok, who turned up most weekends when in Queensland filming the blockbuster movie last year.

3. Sin City Nightclub, Surfers Paradise
A fave haunt of Commonwealth Games athlete Usain Bolt, Sin City is a celebrity magnet for those who want to have a good time during the twilight hours. The luxe bar, which is dripping in lush red velour and hot pink décor, has famously hosted big name celebrities like Justin Bieber and Amber Heard during their time in south-east Queensland. Who will show up next?

4. Palazzo Versace, Main Beach
If it’s good enough for Bieber, it’s good enough for us. The marble-laden foyer of the Palazzo Versace hotel is an interesting people-watching experience in itself, but if you move to the lobby you can sip on wine while you enjoy live music. Settle into the designer sofas, which the likes of A-grade celebs Drake, Justin Bieber and Snoop Dogg have sat in before you.

5. Balter Brewery, Currumbin
The celeb credentials don’t get much better than having a world-famous athlete behind the bar! Balter Brewery is a co-venture between a number of folks including surf royalty Mick Fanning, Joel Parkinson, Josh Kerr and Bede Durbidge. It attracts a swag of surfing legends alongside a loyal bank of local followers to its laid-back, warehouse style set-up. They brew their own award-winning beer, but their venue is “all about celebrating enjoyment with you, because beer is more than just a drink: it draws tribes together and is a companion to many great moments in life”. Sounds like a philosophy we can all get behind!
