Top dogs to receive special honour

THREE Gold Coast District Dog Squad Officers will be awarded with a special plaque today for their service.

Senior Constable Wayne Algie will be receiving a plaque for the late PD Bosun (pictured above), Senior Constable Staples for his dog PD Razor and Senior Constable Damro for his work within the Dog Squad.

A portrait which was done of Sergeant Gary Hamrey by a police officer’s mother will also be presented to him.

The portrait was made following the incident where Sergeant Hamrey was shot during an alleged armed robbery.
