A TOURIST has been knocked unconscious after being bashed outside a hotel in Queensland overnight.
Police said the 23-year-old Scottish man sustained serious head injuries in the vicious attack.
It happened at a hotel at Atherton, in the state’s Far North, shortly before 11pm on Friday.

Police said a shouting match erupted inside the Main Street venue before the commotion spilled onto the street.
When outside, the 23-year-old man was allegedly punched and shoved, causing him to fall backwards and smash his head on a concrete path.
Police were quick on the scene, with officers driving past the hotel while the assault was taking place.
The officers immediately pulled over and rendered first aid to the man before paramedics arrived.
The man was transported to Atherton Hospital from where he was flown to Townsville Hospital.
Police said the man sustained serious but non-life-threatening head injuries.
Investigations by detectives from Mareeba Criminal Investigation Branch are continuing.
No charges had been laid at the time of writing.
