Tourists trapped in cable cars dangling above mountains in French Alps
More than 50 people have been left dangling in cable cars above the glaciers of Mont Blanc in the French Alps.
According to local media, the tourists have no other choice but to remain put, after a rescue operation was suspended upon nightfall.
More than 60 tourists have been rescued from the cable cars and airlifted to ground, however the remaining 50 are still trapped.
The helicopter rescue operation is expected to resume upon first light.
It’s believed the cable car cords became tangled in high winds.
