A potentially faulty front passenger air bag has prompted the recall of 1.6 million Toyota vehicles in the US.
The recall includes Toyota, Scion and Lexus models from the 2006-2011 that are fitted with the air bags made by Takata Corp of Japan.
They have been found to have caused at least 11 deaths worldwide. The safety devices deploy with too much force and off-load shrapnel into the vehicle.
