UPDATE @ 5.45PM: A broken down truck that was causing huge delays on the M1 at Burleigh Heads has now been moved.
The truck broke down near Bermuda St in the southbound lanes, with traffic banked back for 16kms at one stage.
Delays have eased significantly but traffic is still busy between Robina and Palm Beach.

EARLIER @ 5PM: Motorists are facing a nightmare run home on the M1 after a truck broke down at Burleigh Heads
The truck has conked out heading south on the motorway just near Bermuda St.
It’s currently blocking the right hand lane.
Delays already stretch back around 16 kilometres to Robina.
Northbound traffic is also extremely busy through that stretch.
Those delays are set to get worse with Transport and Main Roads unable to say when the truck will be cleared.
The problem is also clogging up several on ramps to the M1 including exits between Robina and Reedy Creek.
There is also reports of an accident on Robina Town Centre Drive at Robina.
