TRAFFIC DELAYS: Wet weather sends Gold Coast motorists into a spin

Wet weather is causing chaos for motorists on the Gold Coast this afternoon, with long delays being experienced across the city.

A truck and car collided northbound on the Pacific Motorway at Nerang just after 4.00pm.

The collision is understood to have happened between Exit 73 and Exit 71, with traffic quickly building in the area.


Two people were assessed at the scene by paramedics, but both patients managed to escape uninjured and did not need to be transported to hospital.

According to the Department of Transport and Main Roads at least one lane has been blocked, with long delays expected.

Traffic is also quite heavy southbound on the M1 at Reedy Creek, while eastbound traffic on Reedy Creek Road is also heavily congested.

Motorists are being urged to drive to conditions and to remember to put their headlights on when travelling in the rain.
