Traffic diversions in place after two-truck crash in Sydney

Investigations are underway after two trucks collided in Menai this morning.

The accident, which involved a small truck and milk tanker, occurred at the intersection of New Illawarra Road and the Bangor Bypass around 2.00am.

“Initial investigations suggest the crash occurred when one truck turned through the intersection into the path of the other,” police said in a statement.

One driver aged in his 60s was treated at the scene by paramedics for shock before being taken to Sutherland Hospital.

The other driver miraculously escaped unharmed.

Police and heavy vehicle inspectors from the Roads and Maritime Service are at the scene investigating the crash.

Local traffic diversions are in place but are expected to be lifted shortly.
