Traffic mayhem as Boxing Day bargain hunters flock to Gold Coast shopping centres
In what started off as a quiet morning on Gold Coast roads, has quickly turned to commuter chaos as bargain hunters hit the shops for the famous Boxing Day sales.
The road into Harbour Town is an absolute nightmare, with Brisbane Road quite literally backed up to the Pacific Motorway (around 4kms away).
Rumour has it, it’s already too late to snag a car park at the centre, which explains why the surrounding roads now look like the alternative parking arrangement.
Motorists are being warned to avoid the area if possible, and if you’re planning to hit the shops, perhaps try for public transport.
Or at this rate, walking could be faster.
Here’s what the maps looked like just before 9.00am.

It’s looking pretty similar on Hooker Boulevard in Broadbeach as well, with shoppers rushing to Pacific Fair.
