UPDATE @ October 30, 8.15am: TRAMS were brought to a halt on the Gold Coast overnight after a car became stuck on the track at Main Beach.
The incident happened near the southern end of the Main Beach station shortly before 7.00pm Sunday.
Crews quickly worked to remove the car and alternative transport was arranged to transport customers.

It’s not known how the vehicle came to be wedged in the tracks.
EARLIER @ October 29, 7.30pm: TRAMS have been stopped on the Gold Coast after a car became stuck on the tracks at Main Beach.
The incident happened near the southern end of the Main Beach station shortly before 7pm.
Trams have been suspended between Surfers Paradise North and Southport while crews work to remove the car.
It was not immediately clear how the vehicle came to be wedged in the tracks.
It’s thought the car may have been driven along the tracks for some distance before getting stuck on a section separated from the main road.
Alternative transport is being arranged to transport customers in both directions.
