Trio caught with almost 700 MDMA caps at Defqon.1 festival in Sydney

POLICE have seized almost 700 MDMA pills from three people at the Defqon.1 music festival in Sydney’s west.

Around 24,000 people attended the festival at the Sydney International Regatta Centre in Penrith on Saturday.

Armed with sniffer dogs, police swept the precinct and arrested a total of 45 festival-goers for drug offences.

Eight people were charged with supplying drugs, while the remaining 37 were allegedly found with drugs on them.

Among those accused of supplying is a 22-year-old man from Germany. He was already on bail when police allege he was found holding 396 capsules filled with MDMA and amphetamine.

Another man allegedly had 200 MDMA pills, while a woman was allegedly found with a further 87.

An additional 11 people were issued with cannabis cautions.

One man was charged with assault.
