Trio use spiky wooden pole to bash Gold Coast man and steal gaming console

A man’s been hospitalised after a terrifying home invasion in Southport overnight.

Three men kicked in the front door of a house on Robyn Street around 9.20 pm, making demands for money.

They then struck a 47-year-old occupant with what has been described as a wooden pole with metal spikes.

The man suffered non-life-threatening wounds to his head and arm and was eventually taken to the hospital for treatment.

The three men then took a gaming console and fled the scene.

Police are now investigating the incident, with the offenders still on the run.

Two other men were at the home at the time of the attack.

More to come.
