Truck crash halts traffic on M1

UPDATE at 12:30 PM | DELAYS continue to build on the M1 following a truck crash on the Gold Coast.

The heavy vehicle reportedly collided with a car in the southbound lanes at Helensvale just after 11.30am.

The incident blocked multiple lanes and ground southbound traffic to a halt. The southbound lanes remained gridlocked at 12:30pm, with the line of cars stretching for almost 10km.

FIRST at 12:05 PM | A MULTI-vehicle crash has ground traffic to a halt on the Gold Coast’s M1.

It’s understood a truck and a car came to grief in the southbound lanes at Helensvale just after 11.30am.

The incident is reportedly blocking multiple lanes and has triggered extensive delays.

Southbound lanes were gridlocked for about 7km at midday, from Helensvale back past Dreamworld.

Thankfully, there have so far been no reports of any serious injuries.

Motorists are being urged to steer clear of the area if they can.
