Truck crash to cause headaches for Sydney motorists

Police are warning motorists there may be delays in the Mascot area this morning due to a truck crash.

Emergency services were alerted to the crash just after midnight.

It’s understood a truck slammed into a power pole on Ricketty Street near Burrows Street.

When officers arrived they found a Ford Transit table-top had crashed into a power pole causing serious damage to the pole.

The driver was nowhere to be seen.

Officers from Botany Bay Local Area Command are investigating the circumstances surrounding the crash.

Ausgrid workers will be undertaking work this morning to repair the pole, which may extend into the morning peak and affect truck access into Port Botany.

Motorists are advised to avoid the area while the repair operation takes place and allow plenty of time for travel.
