Truckie critical after horror road train crash

A MAN has been left with extensive burns to most of his body following a horror crash between two road trains in the Northern Territory.

The two trucks collided on Berrimah Road at East Arm, near Darwin, about 11am on Saturday.

One of the vehicles burst into flames after impact and its driver suffered serious burns to more than 70 per cent of his body.

He was rushed to Royal Darwin Hospital where he remains in a critical condition.

The driver of the second truck was spared serious injury.

The road was closed for several hours while firefighters battled the intense inferno and investigations were carried out.
