Truckies responsible for Gold Coast M1 blockade fined thousands

The two truck drivers who blocked the M1 south through Reedy Creek yesterday have been slapped with thousands of dollars in fines.

Traffic was held up for over an hour around 6.00 am, while the pair protested against mandatory vaccines for border crossers and lockdowns.

They eventually moved on and regrouped at the Chinderah service station, threatening further action over the border.

Queensland police have since issued them each with two infringements for failing to comply with moving heavy vehicles and stopping on a freeway.

It’s understood a van driver was also fined for blocking traffic on the motorway.

The fines add up to over $4,000 together.
