Tugun Tunnel closed for three nights for maintenance work

THE Tugun Bypass Tunnel will be closed for the next three nights to allow for crews carry out essential maintenance work.

The tunnel will be closed from 8pm tonight (Sunday) and will reopen about 5am in time for the Monday morning commute.

It’ll be closed again between the same times on both Monday and Tuesday night.

While the tunnel is closed, traffic will be diverted off the M1 and onto the Gold Coast Highway and Stewart Road.

Motorists are advised to allow up to 10 minutes additional travel time and are urged to drive to the conditions and follow the directions of signs and traffic control.

The tunnel will remain open and fully operational throughout the day.
