Tutor allegedly drugged and indecently assaulted student

A MAN has been charged with allegedly drugging and indecently assaulting a teenage student during a tutoring session on Sydney’s North Shore.

The incident allegedly occurred about 2pm on Sunday, when an 18-year-old woman attended a tutoring academy on Neridah Street in Chatswood.

Police say the 34-year-old man, who has been a tutor for several years, allegedly gave the young woman prescription drugs before indecently assaulting her.

Following the incident, detectives from North Shore Police Area Command were contacted and commenced an investigation.

A crime scene warrant was executed at the academy in Chatswood, and also at a unit on Albert Street.

As a result, the tutor was arrested after attending Hornsby Police Station on Monday and charged with two counts of cause to take intoxicating substance to commit indictable offence, and assault with act of indecency.

He was refused bail to appear at Hornsby Local Court today.
