Police hunt for man after violent home invasion at Tweed Heads

POLICE have appealed to the public for information after a home invasion at Tweed Heads.

Early yesterday morning a 69-year-old woman was awoken by a loud noise from the lounge room of her Adelaide Street unit.

After entering the bedroom the male demanded the woman get out of bed, before striking her in the face.


He then fled through the front door with a small amount of cash, with the woman suffering minor injuries as a result of the attack.

Police from Tweed Byron Local Area Command were contacted and patrolled the area but could not locate the man.

Police have been given a brief description of a male they believe may be able to assist with their inquiries.

He has been described as being of Caucasian appearance, young with a slim build and of average height.

At the time of the incident he was wearing a dark chequered hoodie which covered his head and face.
