Tweed Heads shooting victim dies in hospital

A Tweed Heads man has died in hospital, after being shot in a Brisbane street last week.

Russell Mark Johnstone was found lying in Jarrow Street in Tingalpa with head and chest injuries in the early morning of February 6.

The Brisbane Times reports, he underwent emergency surgery and was placed in an induced coma in the Princess Alexandra Hospital.


Yesterday Police confirmed Mr Johnstone, who turned 24 in the last few days, had died as a result of his injuries.

Police are continuing investigations into the fatal shooting and will be checking security footage from the council and local businesses.
