Twin baby girls dead after being left in scorching hot car in the US

Two twin baby girls have died after being left in a scorching hot car in the US.

The youngsters, aged just 15 months old, were found strapped in their car seats outside a Carroll County duplex Thursday night local time, WSB-TV journalist Rikki Klaus reports.

Neighbours reportedly tried to cool the infants down in a baby pool before emergency crews arrived and rushed them to hospital, however they died shortly after arrival.

It remains unclear why the infants were left in the vehicle, however local media say police are currently interviewing the father.
