Two 15yo girls charged over shocking assault of Qld paramedic

TWO 15-year-old girls have been charged after a female paramedic was assaulted while on duty at a shopping centre in Cairns yesterday.

Police said that around 3.30pm, officers were attempting to assist the two girls at the McLeod Street complex when one of them allegedly became aggressive and sprayed a can of aerosol deodorant directly into the face of a 49-year-old paramedic.

The officers then returned to their vehicle, where it is alleged a can of deodorant was thrown at the window of the vehicle and threats were made towards the paramedics.

One of the girls was charged with serious assault of a public officer while the other was charged with public nuisance.

Police say investigations are continuing.
