UPDATE: A CRIME scene remains in place in the exclusive inner Brisbane suburb of Teneriffe this evening after a man allegedly dismembered his girlfriend before jumping in a wheelie bin and taking his own life.
Around 9pm on Saturday, police were called to an apartment building on Commercial Road to conduct a welfare check after management reported a strong smell coming from one of the units.
Upon arrival, officers found female body parts strewn throughout the unit – some boiling in chemicals, others wrapped in garbage bags.

The male occupant, reported to be 28, allegedly ran from officers armed with a knife, but the dog squad was in hot pursuit.
He was found hiding in a wheelie bin on nearby Dath Street where he’d died of self inflicted knife wounds.
The Ethical Standards Command is overseeing this aspect of the investigation.
Investigations into the circumstances surrounding the discovery of human remains inside the unit remain ongoing.
Fortitude Valley CIB Officer in Charge Detective Senior Sergeant Tom Armitt is appealing for public assistance as part of their investigation.
“We’d like anyone who may have been at the unit complex or around the area last night who may have seen anything suspicious to contact police,” he said.
Officers, including specialist police, remain at the scene.
