Two charged over break & enter, arson at Gold Coast car yard

Two men have been charged over a fire in Molendinar earlier this month.

Police put out CCTV footage as part of the investigation, to try and locate two people who broke into a car yard and caused significant amounts of damage.

The two men allegedly broke into the tow-company business on Industrial Avenue around 1.00am on Saturday May 4.

Police say they then unlawfully entered several vehicles, including driving around an ice cream truck, before setting it on fire.

The CCTV footage then shows the fire from the truck spreading to two nearby vehicles, before the men fled the scene on foot.

Emergency services had to be called to the scene to extinguish the blaze, though all three vehicles were destroyed.

An 18-year-old man from Logan, and an 18-year-old man from Molendinar have since been charged with entering premises with intent and unlawful use of a motor vehicle.

They’ll face Southport Court later this month.
