Two charged over Queensland baby’s death

Police have charged two people with cruelty and manslaughter following the 2013 death of a baby in Queensland.

A 31-year-old man from West Gladstone has been charged with manslaughter and child cruelty over the death of the 12-month-old boy in North Rockhampton in May 2013.

A 22-year-old woman has also been charged with cruelty to children.


The nature of the boy’s injuries were never publicly revealed by authorities.

It’s understood the baby boy suffered from serious traumatic injuries on May 23, 2013.

He was immediately flown from Rockhampton Hospital to Mater Hospital in Brisbane, but he died eight days later.

A number of people were questioned at the time but no arrests were made.

The two people charged over the baby’s death will appear at Gladstone Magistrates Court in Brisbane on Wednesday.
