UPDATE @ 8.00 AM | Notorious bikie Shane Bowden, who made headlines for breaching Queensland’s COVID-19 restrictions, has been gunned down in an execution-style murder on the Gold Coast.
The 48-year-old was ambushed after pulling into his driveway on Cox Road in Pimpama around midnight, where he was shot dead in his vehicle by at least two offenders.
Police said Mr Bowden’s partner and two small children were at home at the time, however thankfully they did not witness the shooting.

“It clearly seems he has been ambushed,” Detective Superintendent Brendan Smith told reporters on Monday.
“At this point we believe the victim came home from the gym and has driven into his driveway, the assailants have run in and shot him multiple times and consequently now he is deceased.”
“He’s basically driven into his driveway, hasn’t even gotten out of his car and he has been executed.”
Police confirmed the murder does appear to be bikie related, but said it was “within the one club as opposed to one club against the other”.
“I think it’s important that people understand that these gangs are criminals, they don’t take fluffy toys to hospital, these are criminal gangs that survive on retribution, violence and threats and if anyone thinks anything otherwise they’re an idiot,” Detective Superintendent Smith said.
“At this stage it looks like the Mongols, with potentially the Finks,” he added.
Detective Supt Smith said the victim’s family are “obviously upset”.
“It’s not something you expect to happen in your home, but dare I say and nobody deserves to die in this manner, but you live by the sword, you die by the sword,” he said.
Two vehicles, a Holden Commodore and Ford Falcon, have since been found burnt out in Beenleigh and Ormeau, with crime scenes declared at both locations.
Detectives are now calling for anyone who may have been in the area at the time, or who may have dashcam footage, to come forward.
Investigations are continuing.
