Two dead, five injured in crash between Brisbane and the Gold Coast

A MARRIED couple aged in their 80s are dead and five other people are being treated for various injuries in hospital following horror three car crash between Brisbane and the Gold Coast.

The cars came to grief at the intersection of Waterford Tamborine Road and Coplick Crescent in the Logan suburb of Buccan around 10:30am on Sunday.

It’s understood one of the cars veered onto the wrong side of the road and collided head-on with a 4WD which then flipped into the path of a third car.

Sadly, a man and his wife travelling in the first vehicle, both aged in their 80s, died at the scene.

The man behind the wheel of the 4WD had to be cut from the wreckage before he could be taken to hospital.

He was transported in a stable condition with non-life-threatening injuries.

Four occupants of the third vehicle were also injured and taken to hospital for treatment.

Waterford Tamborine Road was closed for several hours while the Forensic Crash Unit examined the scene and crews worked to clear the wreckage.

Police reopened the road around 4pm.
