Two dead in horror 24 hours on Qld roads

Two people have died and another is in a critical condition following a horror 24 hours on Queensland roads.

Just after 7.00pm last night, police said a a sedan was travelling outbound along Old Northern Road at Everton Park when it veered into the inbound lanes and collided with a ute.

The 31-year-old driver of the sedan was treated at the scene by paramedics, however died shortly after arrival at the Royal Brisbane and Women’s Hospital.

The driver of the ute escaped injury.

Just one hour later, a 23-year-old man was killed when his ute left the road at Seventy Mile and rolled a number of times.

Earlier in the evening, a motorcyclist was rushed to the Royal Brisbane and Women’s Hospital in a critical condition with serious head and facial injuries after an accident at Kallangur.

Police said initial information suggests that at around 6.30pm a car was travelling west along Ann Street when it attempted to turn right into Sheaves Road and collided with a motorcycle.

The driver of the car, a 33-year-old woman escaped unharmed.

Police are now appealing for witnesses to the crash and have urged anyone who may have been travelling along Ann Street around 6pm to contact  Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000.
