Two dead, one injured following two separate crashes in Queensland

TWO people are dead and a third person is in hospital following a horror two hours on Queensland roads.

Emergency services were first called to a horror head-on smash between a car and semi-trailer on the Burnett Highway, roughly 3km on the Gayndah side of Ban Ban Springs, just before 11.30pm on Saturday.

The driver of the car, A man aged in his 20s, suffered life-threatening injuries and died at the scene. The truck driver was taken to Bundaberg Hospital with less series abdominal injuries

Less than two hours later, at around 1am on Sunday, a 30-year-old man was killed in a horror high-speed motorbike crash on the Gateway Motorway.

The man was thrown from the motorbike when it slammed into a guard rail between Mount Gravatt-Capalaba and Old Cleveland Roads. He was pronounced dead at the scene.

The Gateway was closed for several hours but has since reopened.

The Forensic Crash Unit is investigating both accidents.
