Three dead, one injured after California elementary school shooting

UPDATE @ 9.15am: An 8-year-old student who was injured in a reported “murder-suicide” shooting at an elementary school in southern California has died.

Police confirmed the tragic news just a moment ago.

The youngster was one of two students who were seriously injured when a man opened fire and shot dead his estranged wife, who was a teacher at the North Park elementary school.


The other student remains in hospital in a stable condition.

EARLIER @ 5.10am: Two people are dead and two are in hospital after a shooting at an elementary school classroom in southern California.

San Bernadino Police said that the shooting at North Park elementary school may have been a “murder-suicide”.

The two dead are believed to be adults while the injured are reportedly students.

Their condition is unknown.

Jarrod Burguan, chief of the San Bernardino police department, tweeted:

“We believe this to be a murder suicide. Happened in a classroom. Two students have been transported to the hospital.”

Students were quickly rushed to the nearby Cajon High School but there was no further threat.

The incident happened not far from the Inland Regional Center in San Bernardino, where a mass shooting in 2016 left 14 people dead.
