Two girls arrested over Ormeau bushfire

Police have arrested two girls over a deliberately lit fire at Ormeau.

Fire crews were called to Jondaryan St near Rockwood Rd around 10.30am after reports of a fire in bushland in Bellthorpe Rd Reserve.

The blaze was quickly extinguished.

Police say two 14-year-old girls were found nearby and are now assisting Police with their inquiries.

It comes after three boys aged 9,10 and 11 were arrested over two deliberately lit fires at Pimpama on Saturday afternoon.

Two fires broke out in bushland off Rifle Range Rd, but thankfully was put out before it could spread

The two older boys will be dealt with under the Youth Justice Act.

A total fire ban remains in place across the Gold Coast until midnight Sunday.

I think it would be good for these girls to spend the rest of their week working in the heat, dust and smoke that the poor Firefighters have to – at a safe distance, maybe supporting them by helping prepare and then running their lunches and drinks out to them all day long and then helping with some good old fashioned manual labour like shovelling and digging, rubbish removal… they should have to WORK HARD in hard conditions, for at least a week!!!
