Two hospitalised after separate near-drownings on the Gold Coast

Two people are in hospital this afternoon, after separate near-drowning incidents on the Gold Coast.

Emergency services were first called to the scene at Main Beach, where a pre-teen boy was pulled from the water near Seaworld Drive around 12.20pm.

It’s believed the young male took on a bit of water in the incident, and had to be taken to hospital for monitoring.

Paramedics say he was in a stable condition when they transported him to the Gold Coast University Hospital.

Just 20 minutes later, paramedics were called to the scene of another near drowning in Surfers Paradise.

An adult man – age unknown – was pulled from the surf near Staghorn Avenue shortly after 12.30pm.

He was taken to Pindara Private Hospital, where he’s believed to be in a stable condition.
