Two injured after train smashes into car on level crossing

A MAN has been airlifted to hospital after a train smashed into his 4WD on a level crossing in South Australia.

The accident happened at Currency Creek, near Goolwa, 80km south of Adelaide, on Sunday afternoon.

The man, said to be aged in his 60s, is believed to have failed to give way before driving across the tracks.

It’s understood the train slammed straight into the driver’s side of the vehicle, seriously injuring the man.

He’s been flown to hospital while a woman who was also in the vehicle was treated by paramedics at the scene.

No further information was available at the time of writing.
