Two killed in three-vehicle crash

TWO people have been killed in a horror crash involving a truck and two utes in Central Queensland.

It happened on the Peak Downs Highway near Logan Creek at Winchester, 220km southwest of Mackay, about 4pm on Friday.

It’s understood a truck and one of the utilities collided head-on before taking out a second ute.

Sadly, the driver of the truck, a 47-year-old man, and the 48-year-old woman driving the first ute sustained life-threatening injuries in the collision and could not be saved.

Queensland Police confirmed the man from Emerald and the Moranbah woman died at the scene.

The woman driving the second ute escaped with only minor physical injuries.

The Forensic Crash Unit is investigating the circumstances surrounding the collision and are appealing for anyone who witnessed the crash or has dash cam footage to come forward and contact police.
