Two killed, two injured in horror crash near Byron Bay

Two people have been killed and another two have been airlifted to Gold Coast University Hospital after a horror crash near Byron Bay.

The accident happened on the Pacific Highway at Cudgera Creek just after 4.20pm.

Police say initial investigations suggest a silver Toyota Camry left the roadway and collided with a cement bridge before coming to a stop in a culvert.


Emergency crews rushed to the crash site, however two women, aged 64 and 46, could not be saved and died at the scene.

A 47-year-old man and a 14-year-old boy were treated by paramedics and airlifted to Gold Coast University Hospital with non life threatening injuries.

Investigations into the crash are now underway with police calling for any witnesses to come forward.
