Two men arrested over shooting of police officer

TWO men have been arrested over the shooting of a police officer in Monee Ponds two weeks ago.

A 22-year-old man was arrested around 6.20am today in Morwell before a 24-year-old man was arrested shortly afterwards in Oak Park.

Constable Ben Ashmole, 31, was shot multiple times in the back of his head and was extremely lucky to survive.

The shooting occurred just 10 minutes after gunshots were fired into the home of George Williams, the father of underworld figure Carl Williams.
